When it comes down to it, society is made up of little kingdoms controlled by little kings. Something in us instinctively desires to build a kingdom of our own liking. Take a minute to imagine how you would handle loosing everything you have. Not very pleasant is it? It’s because you don’t want to loose your kingdom. Scripture is clear on this subject.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Matthew 16:26

Wanting our own kingdom is not all bad. It reveals a God given desire to want to be a part of something bigger. The catch is letting go and aligning with God’s Kingdom. He is the perfect King. Isaiah foreshadows the coming King’s birth and reveals why Jesus is the perfect king.

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7

What makes Jesus the Perfect King?

He is a Wonderful Counselor
What would it feel like to have a counselor that gave perfect advice?Jesus’ counsel is perfect. His thoughts are true. There is no argument that refutes His ways. Even the newborn baby Jesus began to bring death to life. How much more the Risen Savior!

He is a Mighty God
What does it feel like to have a God that is not a wimp? Jesus was strong enough to remove himself from the right hand of God and suffer becoming a human baby. Jesus was strong enough to live a perfect human life, and die a perfect death. BUT, that’s not the limits of His might. His might is incomprehensible.

He is an Everlasting Father
What relief does it give you to know that our perfect father never leaves us? There is no abandonment associated with Kingdom of God, no separation due to death, and no such thing as giving up. Jesus will never abandon, loose sight, or give up on any of us!

He is a Prince of Peace
What does it feel like to know that our King brings peace through all circumstances? In the midst of war, famine, and disaster Jesus defeats it all with peace. The peace that a wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, and suckle of a newborn baby bring!

The Perfect King longs to rule our lives with love. Give him permission to serve our needs, fight our battles, calm our insecurities, and cover us with peace. He is the only one that can. He’s the Perfect King.
