The Radiant Ooze

A life with no regrets is a life that stands out in a crowd. There’s something different about a person that goes through life taking the good and the bad and finding ways to move forward with a mind, heart, strength, and soul that are better because of the journey.

Has someone ever walked into a room and you immediately sensed there’s something different about them? What if one of these people walked in the room; what do you think you’d sense about them?

Each of these people are definitely unique, but what do they radiate that makes them stand out? They radiate the Spirit of God and it oozes into every relationship and circumstance of their life.

So what’s a radiant ooze?

Radiant is a beaming, gleaming, glorious shine that shoots out in every direction; permeating any and everything in its path.

Ooze in our context it is to gradually display some characteristic or quality.

So the Christian’s Radiant Ooze is both a fast penetrating, and slow methodical expression of the Spirit of God. So depending on the situation we act fast and/or methodically to express God’s love every chance we get.

In John 17:24-26 lets read about what Jesus says about our radiant ooze.

24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

Verse 26 is the key to the discussion. Jesus wants his radiant ooze, the love of the Father, to be alive in us, but it doesn’t stop there. If his love is radiating through our lives and oozing into every relationship and circumstance of our lives, the world will experience God’s love through the relationships that we build. Jesus makes God known through a life of surrender and obedience to the will of God the Father.

How do we make Jesus Known?
The same way.

The type of surrender and obedience that Jesus demonstrated is the same type Moses, Noah, Elijah, etc. demonstrated. It’s also the same type that we need to demonstrate. Let’s take a closer look at surrender and obedience.

SURRENDER

  1. What is the scriptural concept of surrender?
  2. What are characteristics of a life surrendered to God?
  3. How is God asking you to live a more surrendered life?

OBEDIENCE

  1. What is the scriptural concept of obedience?
  2. What are some of the steps required to living in obedience?
  3. What are some of God’s commands that He is prompting you to be obedient to?

As we pull it all together, we will continue to become more aware of the things in our life that we need to surrender to the Father, and more aware of our need to be obedient to God’s word. We will radiate the love of the Father and ooze His character more clearly. Let’s pray for our journey toward Christlikeness!
